Neighbourhood Watch is one of the biggest and most successful crime prevention initiatives ever. Behind it lies a simple idea, and a central value shared by millions of people around the country.
Everyone knows that the Police are there to fight crime, but they need everyone’s help to do an effective job. Neighbourhood Watch is all about an active partnership with the Police. Neighbourhood Watch can:
Neighbourhood Watch is not just about reducing burglary - it’s about creating communities who care. It brings local people together and can make a real contribution to improving their lives. The activity of Watch members can foster a new community spirit and a belief in the community’s ability to tackle the problems it faces. At the same time, you feel secure, knowing your neighbours are keeping an eye on your property. There are other benefits to Neighbourhood Watch too. You will become familiar with crime prevention ideas which will help keep your home and belongings safe. And the extra security which belonging to a Neighbourhood Watch scheme offers might even mean that you get a premium discount from your insurance company. Contrary to what some people may think, Neighbourhood Watch is not a charter for nosey neighbours. It is about working together as a community and being more secure as a result. You may think that living in a low crime area makes Neighbourhood Watch unnecessary or that it is something that only works on high-crime inner-city estates. The layout of the village means that many of our residents live in isolated houses that are at greater risk than they may think. By working together, we can keep crime at the low levels we have all come to enjoy. The Neighbourood Watch coordinator regularly distributes messages received from the Police via eMail. Please use the “Contact Us” Page to register your details if you would like to be added to the Watch List. You can also download an Electronic Copy of the Good Life Guide from Lincolnshire County Council. This provides details on how to make the most of a safe and smart retirement in Lincolnshire but also includes important safety and security information relevant to everyone. Please note that you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to view these files. This can be downloaded, free of charge using the link below.
