The first Music on a Summer's Evening event proved to be a great success. After some very dubious weather during the week leading up to the event, the sun shone and it turned out to be a beautiful summer's evening. On their first professional outing, the Jazz Mill proved to be a great hit with everyone and provided a melodious background to the other events going on.
The organisers were overwhelmed with the support given to the event by neighbours and friends, especially after all the hard work that had been undertaken in the previous few weeks to get the Churchyard ready for the event (click here for more on the preparations). So popular was the real ale bar, that additional supplies had to be brought in at short notice! As a result of everyone's tremendous support, the first Music on a Summer's Event event raised almost £1,700 towards the costs of repairing the Church roof and replacing the guttering. The work is in the process oif being commissioned and will be completed before the Autumn. |
